Huckabee: Ignore SCOTUS — The Law — If It Lets Gays Marry

Poor Mike Huckabee; I mean, he quit his job at Fox Not News to wait by the phone in case God called and told him to run for President, but God’s been busy giving AIDS to babies in Africa, or something, so what’s Mike gonna do now?

Well, he’ll talk to anyone and everyone who will listen and say the most non-Presidential things ever, as he did this week when he talked with conservative radio host and law professor Hugh Hewitt to shill his new “book”, God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy — wait, is it a cookbook, a bible or a gun nut anthology?

He also talked about how to break the law in this country, you know, if you don’t agree with it. Huckabee told Hewitt he is "angry" about the way states and governors are just bowing down to the U.S. Supreme Court on the issue of same-sex marriage:
"If the federal Supreme Court rules that same sex marriage is protected under the 14th Amendment, you still have to have Congress and the President act to agree with it, because one branch of government does not overrule the other two. This idea that a judge makes a ruling on Friday afternoon, and Saturday morning same sex marriage licenses are being given out, that’s utter nonsense, because there’s not been any agreement with the other two branches of government."
Clearly, Huckleberry has no idea how ‘law’ works, which may explain why God hasn’t picked up the phone yet. But Hewitt, a law professor who studied law and not just god and Grist, or some crap, schooled Huckabee on a little something called the Supremacy Clause which establishes that the federal constitution and federal law generally take precedence over state laws, and even state constitutions.

Which is why, when the courts rule, the states follow the law. You’d think Huckabee would have remembered that when he was governor of Arkansas, but he might have been too busy playing with his guns or his guitar.

Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister who is, at this time, still waiting to hear from God, also told Hewitt that when it comes to same-sex marriage, "there does come a point at which I think we have to take a stand. I may be lonely, I may be the only one, but I’m going to stand absolutely faithful to the issue of marriage not because it’s a politically expedient thing to do, because it isn’t. I’m going to do it because I believe it is the right position, it’s the Biblical position, it’s the historical position."

And that’s the exact same argument that was used to support slavery and bans on interracial marriage and we know how that worked out.

Let me make this queer: Huckleberry thinks he can be President and yet he is basically saying that if you don’t like a Supreme Court ruling, a law, in fact, then you should just be able to ignore it.

That’s so Presidential, Mike, and just one more reason why God is  busy watching a Real Housewives marathon on Bravo and not dialing your number at the Crazy House.

For One Memphis Parent, The Devil's In The Tail Lights

Out there in Memphis, Tennessee, at least one parent — and maybe more — have too much time on her hands.

See, one day this woman  who will not give her name  was in traffic, behind a school bus, and she saw something on the back of the bus that made her skin crawl, and made her call the district, the media, and anyone who would listen to her rants.

On the back of that bus, in the taillights, she saw an upside down, five-pointed star outlined in the brake lights; a pentagram, you know, which, according to a quick Google search, is often used as a religious or magic symbol. But for this women, a Christian, dontcha know, it was too much:
"Anyone who fears a God, if not God and Jesus Christ, should be outraged."
She says Christians should be outraged that a symbol that looks like a pentagram would be allowed in the design of a vehicle used to transport children to public schools. And she took her crazy to social media, because that’s what people with too much time on their hands, like to so, and a debate was sparked; some say the brake lights are a subliminal pagan message, while others say it's just an unintentional design, but this one woman will not let it go.
"If you can't put a cross on there, you cannot put a pentagram on it."
Still, while most seem to think it’s just a design and not a symbol that the snit-Christ is behind the wheel of Memphis school buses, even those who are not completely sold on the brake light being a sign from the devil have questions.
"Why'd they put it up there? Why'd they put it upside down?"—Marsha Hudson; kudos to Marsha for at least giving her name
Um, maybe it’s just the way the lights lined up?

But that one parent   and again, she doesn't want anyone to know her name   says the lights send the wrong signal, and she wants them replaced with solid red brake lights.

Or better yet, lights that look like crosses?

Neither Durham School Services nor the school district would answer any questions about the bus' brake lights because, well, it’s dumb and this crazy woman has way too much time on her hands.

Ignore My Arrest For Choking My Chicken In A Neighbor's Chrysler and Vote For Me

Jordan Haskins is just twenty-four, and running for Congress in Michigan as one of those stalwart, conservative Republicans for whom the way to govern is defined by “faith, family and freedom” saying:
“I have dreams, and I want to make a difference.”
And so he’s asking the good people of Michigan to ‘overlook’ his past behavior, his sexual fetishes and his many felony convictions and vote for him. He wanst you to know that although he served time in prison in two states, and is currently on parole, there are no laws that prevent him from running for public office.

Still, on four separate occasions between April of 2010 and January of 2011 — when Haskin’s was twenty, maybe twenty-one — he broke into stranger’s cars on public and private property, disconnected the ignition wires, started the engine and, well, masturbated; he called it “cranking.”

Most folks called it a crime.

Haskins, who has lived in both Michigan and North Carolina, has lengthy criminal records in both states, though most of his early offenses — going back to when he was fifteen — were mostly breaking into cars and stealing them for a joyride. In North Carolina Haskins was arrested in 2006, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 for breaking and entering, larceny and trespassing, but when he came to Michigan he added the jerking off in stranger’s cars aspect to his criminal, sexual, behavior.

And he has an excuse for his behavior:
“I really had no friends at the time. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I was one of those young people who grew up without a father in the house, grew up with his grandmother and his mom. I just didn’t really know what I wanted to do, what my purpose was, where I wanted to go.”
Except to beat off in a Buick, apparently. Yet now he wants the good people of Michigan to forget about his arrests, and his behavior, because he’s replaced the jacking off in Jeeps with political conservativism.

Though if he is elected — he’s running in a  heavily Democratic district — I imagine his constituents might often wonder what he was doing with his hands under his desk in the statehouse.

Cranking? Or yanking?

Oklahoma? Is The Crazy In The Water?

Timothy Murray, out there in Oklahoma, was running for Congress against Frank Lucas and, well, he lost; badly. He scored 5.2% of the vote while Lucas secured more than eighty percent; yeah, not even close.

So what does Timothy Murray do? He opts to one-up the usual suspects in Oklahoma by appearing to be the Craziest Politician In All The Land in a state where Sally Kern, Scott Esk, Mary Falling, Tim Coburn, James Lankford, and Jim Inhofe all have held office, hold office, or seek to hold office; side note: nearly all of those people I’ve just mentioned have won the coveted ISBL Asshat of the Week Award™.

But Murray goes a step further by announcing that he plans to contest Oklahoma’s recent primary re-election of Lucas because, well, Timothy Murray says Lucas is no longer qualified to hold office because ... Frank Lucas is dead and has been replaced by a robot.

Oh, but he did.

From the campaign website of Timothy Murray:
"I, Timothy Ray Murray, am a human, born in Oklahoma, and obtained and continue to fully meet the requirements to serve as U.S. Representative when honored to so. I will never use a look alike to replace my (The Office’s) message to you or to anyone else, as both the other Republican Challengers have. Rep. Frank Lucas, and a few other Oklahoma and other States’ Congressional Members were depicted as being executed by The World Court on or about Jan. 11, 2011 in Southern Ukraine. On television they were depicted as being executed by the hanging about the neck until death on a white stage and in front of witnesses. Other now current Members of Congress have shared those facts on television also. We know that it is possible to use look alike artificial or manmade replacements, however Rep. Lucas was not eligible to serve as a Congressional Member after that time. The World knows the truth and We must always display and communicate the truth. I will always share public information with the truth when honored to serve as your Representative."
To his credit, Frank Lucas responded like this:
“It does come as kind of a shock to read that you’re not you … Many things have been said about me, said to me during course of my campaigns. This is the first time I’ve ever been accused of being a body double or a robot.”
And Lucas adds that he has never been to Ukraine.

Murray has run for Congress in the past two state elections, and faced Lucas both times, the last time as a Democrat though this time he switched to the GOP where, from the looks of his story, and the looks of the GOP in Oklahoma, the crazies tend to congregate. Maybe this time the loss proved so substantial that he just snapped and  ...

I can't with this; Murray’s letter claiming the body switching of Lucas for a robot, or lookalike, or double, or whatever, has been received by the election’s board, though he has yet to file a formal complaint.

Seriously. What the hell is going on in Oklahoma?

Tony Perkins Wants Kids Pulled From Public Schools Because Pete Cahall Is Gay

It was just last Thursday that I posted about Pete Cahall, the principal at Wilson High School in Washington DC, who came out as gay at the school’s annual LGBT Pride celebration — see post HERE. It kinda proved my pint that it doesn’t matter when you come out, just that you do come out; strength in numbers and all that you know. perfect sytless.

But, one person wasn’t happy that Pete Cahall decided to live his life truthfully and that person was rightwingnut Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, a certified hate group. I mean, he really must have gotten his thong twisted over that story because he called for the most ludicrous response to Principal Cahall’s coming out party.

Perkins is calling for all parents, everywhere, across the nation, to boycott public schools and remove their children from public schools, placing them in “other alternatives” because there’s a gay principal in DC.

Seriously.

Perkins is especially incensed because the students cheered their principal’s coming out and that the school district even “tweeted it out.”
“Eighty-three percent of the students coming out of the District of Columbia are not proficient in reading skills, but they know how to celebrate gay pride. As we drop further and further in the global ranking of math and science scores, at least our kids will understand sex-ed. Amazing.
“If you have your children in public schools, unless you’re in a district where you know exactly what’s going on in some rural part of the country where values are still embraced, you really need to think about whether or not you want to expose your kids to what’s happening in our public school system. I would encourage you to look for other alternatives.”
I got news for you Tony, I'm as queer as the day is long and I live in rural America; and there are others, just like me, right here in the same town, Tony.

And there are others like me, and Pete Cahall in every school district, in every city, town, township, zip code, rural country road; there are gay teachers and administrators, so why this one principal has gotten you so hot under the collar I don’t know. But why stop now?

I mean, if you want children pulled from public schools because a gay man was cheered for his honesty at one school, then why not completely boycott any business, any institution, any place in the world that has a gay person in it.

Leave your church because the choir director might be gay; or maybe the person in the pew in front of you is queer.

Remove all your money from Wells Fargo, or whatever bank you use, because I bet a teller, or a bank manager at one of the branches is involved in a same-sex relationship.

Stop all upcoming medical procedures because the hospital has a gay doctor or nurse, or intern or orderly.

You see how stupid you sound, Tony? If you want to boycott a school or any business or church or organization because a gay person came out and was celebrated then you’ll find yourself living all alone somewhere, probably behind a fence that says “Gays Keep Out.”
Tony, dear, we’re here, we’re queer, and we’re everywhere.

Boycott that.
